Program
Methodology and Approach
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's INPECA
Is based on an integrated pedagogical approach, centered on the student and aligned with European standards for advanced training in Health Sciences. The methodology combines theoretical teaching, clinical practice, simulation, research and international mobility to develop clinical, scientific and humanistic skills for critical and perioperative patient care.
Learning-centered and Competence-based Approach
The program uses a student-centered learning model that promotes autonomy, clinical reasoning, decision-making and evidence-based practice. This approach allows students to:
-
Develop advanced clinical skills for highly complex environments.
-
Integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills and professional attitudes.
-
Foster critical thinking, ethical reflection and the humanization of care.
-
Boost leadership skills and interdisciplinary work.
Training activities include lectures, interactive seminars, case studies, cooperative learning, and advanced simulation environments.
Integrated European Mobility Pathway
Structured mobility between the three universities in the consortium is a central element of the methodological approach. Each semester takes place in a different country, allowing students to:
-
Learn about different European healthcare systems.
-
Adapt to diverse clinical, cultural and organizational contexts.
-
Strengthening intercultural, communication and professional skills.
-
Build an international network of academic and professional contacts.
Mobility follows a progressive path in terms of clinical complexity, research and professional practice.
Practice-oriented Learning and Clinical Immersion
Practical learning is fundamental at INPECA. The program combines:
-
Clinical simulation with advanced technology: critical care, perioperative, life support and emergency scenarios.
-
Adapt to diverse clinical, cultural and organizational contexts.
-
International clinical placements, supervised in partner hospitals in Spain, Croatia and Cyprus.
-
Continuous assessment of clinical skills through rubrics, structured observation, self-assessment and professional portfolio.
This methodology provides real immersion in intensive care units, anesthesia, resuscitation, operating theatres and highly complex areas.
Research-based Teaching and Scientific Development
Research is a cross-cutting theme of the program. Over the course of four semesters, students:
-
Acquire skills in qualitative and quantitative methodology.
-
Participate in scientific seminars, critical analysis workshops and evidence review.
-
Learn to design, execute and communicate health research projects.
-
Develop a Master’s Thesis (TFM) supervised by lecturers and researchers from any of the partner universities.
The research focus prepares students to continue their academic development in a PhD program or to lead clinical innovation projects.
Multidisciplinary and International Academic Staff
The program’s teaching staff come from disciplines related to critical care, perioperative care, anesthesia, public health, ethics, research methodology and healthcare management. This diversity allows for:
-
A cross-disciplinary view of critical patient care.
-
A multidisciplinary approach in complex clinical contexts.
-
Access to guest international experts and clinical professionals from partner centers.
The teaching staff collaborates closely through academic committees and coordination tools to ensure consistency and continuity in the training program.
Continuous Quality Assurance and Student Support
The program incorporates a formal quality assurance system that includes:
-
Assessment of modules and practical work.
-
Personalized academic tutoring at each university.
-
Follow-up meetings, progress reports and career guidance.
-
Active participation of students and alumni in improving the program.
This approach ensures a rigorous, consistent educational experience tailored to the needs of the student body.
Humanistic and Ethical Foundation
INPECA incorporates the humanisation of care as a cross-cutting principle, promoting:
-
Respect for patient dignity in highly complex environments.
-
Cultural sensitivity and effective communication.
-
Practices based on ethical values, professional responsibility and patient safety.
